I play the sax about 25 years ago and the piano about 15 years ago. I stop because of the lack of discipline. After reading the blog I am going to start playing the piano again, following your advise above. I loved the sax but I no longer have one. Thanks guys and God Bless!

Comment on Sang Preacha! - It's All About Who You Are Singing To - Secular Music In The Church

I wish I could spend more time online sharing the numerous stories of my life and the lives of many others... I might not have been around very long but have been through a lot... I will leave ONE story... I remember I was working at a church and playing in an Gospel Instrumental 'Jazz' Band when a guy from the secular asked us to tour with him. I, knowing his character and not feeling comfortable in my spirit about him, told my band leader NO! BUT They went ahead without me and did a few gigs! Ok... 4 years or so passes and I am in my current Pastor's office going through deliverance and I am just lying there... My Pastor went to ask me something when all of a sudden my hands started to bend back on its own... I started to try to get my Pastor's attention because it was hurting really bad! Immediately, He heard the Holy spirit instruct him to rebuke the HEX (a curse) that the SAME GUY put on me.... Immediately my hands restored and the pain stopped! Afterwards I would have contacted my former leader and asked him what happened after he told the guy I denied his offer... He said that he was really upset by this! Once again, knowing his lifestyle in the occult and spiritism I knew he could not be trusted, Unfortunately the entire rest of the band are hooked playing secular and hardly make any contribution to the Kingdom of God. The guys they play with smile with them in their face and scorn them behind their backs.

People, Satan is REAL! And he will do whatever he can to trick you and make things look nice to deceive you into his traps... Be Spirit-led and develop your relationship with God above ALLLLLLLL things... I almost died at Satan's hand, Please do not use your instruments/members/hands and feet to support, worship or enhance ANYTHING that God is not a part of or builds up his kingdom!

Comment on Sang Preacha! - It's All About Who You Are Singing To - Secular Music In The Church

Well said, Iam impressed by the magnitude of great servitude inwhich the Lord has mightiliy used you to form these words of incouragement. Songs were meant to be to display with your mouth, your inner feelings regarding God. People took the original intentions of God and created "secular" music and began to voice the feelings for others that should have been expressed to God. In the past, people like Ramsey Lewis took gospell songs like "Wade in the Water" and turned them into club spectaculars. People even danced to them. Returning to God in song, can only be a blessing for us, His people. Just like the gospel song, "I Want it All Back," He wants His back too.

Comment on 4 Key Ingredients To Successful Music Ministry

These are all great points to consider in order to have a successful music ministry. I agree that people look to the choir for guidance and it is important for them to be on one accord. There is no better example of unity in praise.

Comment on 4 Key Ingredients To Successful Music Ministry

in my opinion music ministry is the main vein of the church because the praize teams-chiors-dance teams all set the tone for the church and the mind set each team places in the atmospere will be in the sanctuary thats why it is essential for constant communication with first and foremost our lord and saviou Jesus Christ and then those that are on the chior, praize team-dance team etc.if you dont have this you will surely not succeed in pleasing the lord, and not reaching that lost soul.music is by far the one thing in this world that can reach a lost soul besides the Lord Jesus himself to draw someone who would not normally be in a church service if you as a minister of music and the team inwhich your in charge of dont do the service right you will lose that soul,or have a hard time convincing them to come back to your church.music is universal so you become one in mind and universal in worship to reach anyone through true heartfelt worship. What I feel about Bishop Love's actions in the "Love Jam" (my words) video really won't matter in terms of the consequences of what he is doing. The questions he will want to be able to answer before the Lord are, "Did you feed my sheep as I instructed and as modeled in my word?" Did you lead the people in my ways or did you lead them to offer up "strange fire" (this alludes to the attempt by two priests to depart from God's pattern for spiritual service and introduce their own inventions. Whether or Bishop Love's actions excited the crowd, will increase his popularity or grow his church will not be relevant factors. What will matter is whether or not God accepts his actions. Just because we offer up forms of worship unto the Lord means that He will accept them. Remember, the bible says He seeks such as will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Both elements are essential for acceptable worship. May God help Bishop Love to remember that when Lot's wife looked back it ended her life. She was not able to escape but turned into a pillar of salt. Looking back "as in reminiscing about old love songs" can be deadly for some because the lure will draw them back into the old lifestyle. If we're honest, we will admit that certain love songs evoke old passions, old dangerous memories and conflict with our soul.

Comment on 4 Key Ingredients To Successful Music Ministry

Why are you not mentioning inspiration? Playing music in church is not the same as playing music in jazz club. It have to go from heart. It's not only what people should do for a living, but the favourite hobby. If music is not inspired, not played sincerely, people feel it. The effect is different completely.
